Some filling work in Lo Lung Hang Valley to complete the formation of sites for exchange purposes was carried out, the material being obtained from the cutting on the line of the Chatham Road Extension.

(b.) Waterloo Road Extension to Kowloon Boundary.-This work was referred to in paragraphs 176 (c.) of the Report for 1925 and 138 (a.) of that for last year.

This item formed part of Contract No. 24 of 1922. The Contractors, Messrs. Li Hing & Bros., were involved in litigation over this Contract with the result that very little work was done for six months of the year. They lost the case, in consequence of which Messrs. Lam Fau Nam, who were the plaintiffs to the action, made an endorsement on the Contract and carried on with the work as from the 27th August, 1927. Decided improvement in the progress of the work was made from that date.

(c.) To Kwa Wan Road (100 feet wide) and Site formation. This work was referred to in paragraphs 176 (d.) of the Report for 1925, and 138 (b.) of that for last year.

The construction of the road to a width of 100 feet was completed, while good progress was maintained upon the site formation work at the end of the year.

(d.) Argyle Street Extension to Waterloo Road.—This work was referred to in paragraphs 176 (e.) of the Report for 1925 and 138 (c.) of that for last year.

This item also formed part of Contract No. 24 of 1922, and as stated in a previous paragraph of this Report Messrs. Li Hing & Bros., the Contractors, were involved in litigation over this Contract with the result that very little work was done for six months of the year. They lost the case, in consequence of which Messrs. Lam Fau Nam who were the plaintiffs to the action made an endorsement on the Contract and carried on with the work as from the 27th August, 1927.
