These houses, which are of the Chinese village type, are intended for the owners of houses in the old Wong Nei Chong Village which had been resumed in connection with the improvement which is being carried out in the district. The Contract price per house, exclusive of site and piling for foundations, was $990.

103. Flush Water Closets, Central Police Station. This work consisted of the installation of a water carriage system at the Quarters of the Married and Single Inspectors and Married Sergeants at the Central Police Station in place of the old commode system.

The work was commenced in May and completed in July.

104. Water-flushed Closets at the Ellis Kadoorie School.- This work consisted of the installation of two water-flushed closets in the main building, of which one is for the Masters and the other for the Mistresses. No such accommodation was hitherto provided other than commodes in spare rooms.

The work was commenced in March and satisfactorily completed in May.

105. Garage at Central Stables.--This work consisted of the reconstruction of part of the Old Harbour Office to provide accommodation for the fleet of motor vehicles now in use by the Sanitary Department. The rooms above were altered to house the Chinese Staff and improve the Western Central Sanitary Office where a new bathroom for the use of the European Sanitary Inspectors is now available.

The work was commenced in April and completed in October.
