Kowloon Bay East Reclamation, Formation of Junk Building and Repairing Yards.—This work was referred to on page 189 of last year's Report.
The filling in of the reclamation was continued. The progress made with this work was unsatisfactory, due principally to the exceptional amount of sickness amongst the workmen during the summer months. The work of protecting the north-west and west sides of the reclamation and the deposition of pell-mell rubble to form the foundations of a future nullah was completed. The construction of a pitched slope to protect the south-east side of the reclamation was well in hand at the end of the year.
The rubble mound deposited for the purpose of protecting the reclamation settled considerably, necessitating about 2,000 cube yards of rubble to maintain it at proper levels.

Additional Protection to Foundations of the Eastern Return of Quay Wall at M.L's 430 and 431.—This work was referred to on page 182 of last year's Report under the heading "Forming Rubble Mound for the protection of proposed Reclamation at North Point”.
In the event of a further reclamation eastwards at North Point it is proposed that the type of reclamation wall shall be similar to that constructed at M.L's 430 & 431. In order to provide for extending the wall without interference with the foundations of the existing wall and that the foundations of the latter may not suffer damage from typhoon seas the rubble mound foundations were carried an additional 20 feet eastwards and the eastern slope of this mound levelled to facilitate dredging operations when further construction takes place.
