a.) New Main Roads:
Chatham Road Extension from Hung Hom Northwards to Kowloon City. This work was referred to in paragraph 176 (a) of last year's Report.
It was found desirable to close the contract with the Hong Kong Engineering and Construction Company. Negotiations in this direction had not been completed at the close of the year. The total expenditure amounted to $9,914.29.
Waterloo Road, Extension to Kowloon Boundary.—This work was referred to in paragraph 176 (c) of last year's Report. Slow progress was maintained here. With a view to reducing expenditure the completion of this road was not expedited.

(b) To Kira Wan Road (100 feet wide) and Site Formation. -This work was referred to in paragraph 176 (d) of last year's Report.
Good progress was maintained during the year, but latterly the work was slowed down to avoid excess expenditure.
