Traffic Motor Signs.—Several of these signs were erected in approved positions.
Concrete boxes. Concrete boxes were constructed at Chamberlain Road and Battery Path slopes to receive the roots of creeping plants.
Installation of 6 additional Fire Alarm Pillars in the City. These were erected towards the end of the year.

124. Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903.—Compensation and Resumptions. This vote provided for the resumption of areas required in connection with street widening and improvement schemes, new roads and the development of village areas in accordance with the provisions of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance.
In addition to the resumptions scheduled on pages 39 to 44, the sum of $10,000.00 paid to the Dairy Farm, Ice and Cold Storage Co., Ltd. for buildings demolished on land taken over by Government in connection with the exchange arranged between the Company and Government, and the sum of $13,280.77, being refund of premium and Crown Rent paid in respect of Rural Building Lots 227, 228 and 229, etc., were debited to this vote.

125. Eastern Filter Beds.—This work was referred to in paragraph 137 of last year's Report.
Excavation for the whole Service Reservoir was completed, and by the end of the year the side walls, inverts and pier foundation to both sections were completed. In June, the Eastern Section of the Service Reservoir was tested with satisfactory results and connected to the City mains.
The outlet tunnel was completed, and the construction of the Watchmen's Quarters was well advanced by the close of the year.
