Works not appearing in Estimates,-New Territories.

Owing to the disturbed labour conditions, the work was not completed by the end of the year which will be continued in 1926.

249. Quarters for Inspector of Vernacular Education in the New Territories, Taipo.—This work was referred to in paragraph 197 of last year's Report. Some additional minor works were executed under the Contract for this building such as the installation of hot water system, and European sanitary fittings to bathrooms, enclosing of verandah, cutting of embankment, small amendment to drainage, and extra turfing around the house.

251. Installation of K. W. W.T. Set at Waglan Lighthouse for communication with the Post Office.—The set, when installed during the year, is working satisfactorily and serves as an alternative to the submarine cable for the purpose of communication.

252. Furniture for Government Offices and Quarters.—The provision of new furniture was referred to in paragraphs 121, 178 and 201 of last year's Report.

In the Estimates for 1925, only one vote was provided to meet the requirements of both Hong Kong and the mainland. During the year nineteen sets or part sets of Senior Officers' and seven sets or part sets of Subordinate Officers' furniture were supplied.

In addition, the Government acquired, at an agreed valuation, a considerable portion of the existing furniture in the Queen's Garden Flats.
