194. Gaol and Police Training School-Naau Shi Wan.- This work was referred to in paragraph 194 of last year's Report.

Special plant for manufacturing and driving Raymond Concrete Piles was erected on the Gaol Site during February, and by the end of October over 2,000 Piles were driven for the foundation of these buildings. At the close of the year the Piling Contract has been completed.

The piles varied in length from 5 to 48 feet, and on several occasions as many as 40 piles of an average length of 20 feet were driven in one day.

In April tenders were called for the second Contract comprising reinforced concrete foundations, excavations to the hillside at the rear of the site, and reinforced concrete boundary wall.

Thirteen tenders were received, the lowest of which was that submitted by the Hongkong Excavation, Pile Driving & Construction Co., Ltd., for the sum of $450,506.50.

Work on this Contract has not yet begun.

195. Quarters for Indian Married Police.-These Quarters were referred to in paragraph 196 of last year's Report.

The Contract for their erection at Shataukok, Sai Kung, Taipo and Cheung Chau Police Stations was let to Mr. Pang Loong of Fanling in May, the date for fulfilling which being the 26th November, 1925. Owing to difficulties in obtaining materials and labour, an extension of time to 6th March, 1926, was allowed.

Opportunity was taken of the Contract to carry out additional work by fitting in mosquito-proof doors and windows, and providing an Interpreter's room in the case of Cheung Chau.

By the end of the year the progress of work was as follows:-

At Cheung Chau.-Brickwork and roof completed, doors windows, etc., being fixed, and drains laid.

At Taipo. Brickwork practically completed and roof tiling in hand.
