176. Roads :-

(a) Main Roads, Kowloon:

Chatham Road Extension, from Hunghom Northwards to Kowloon City.—This work was referred to in paragraphs 173 (a) of the Report for 1923 and 179 (a) of that for last year.

Progress on the Southern Section was slow throughout the year whilst towards the end it practically terminated altogether.

The Northern Section showed fair progress, and by the end of the year Kowloon City Road was, for a portion of its length, diverted to the new alignment.

(b) Improvements to existing Main Roads for Motor Traffic. -This work was not proceeded with during the year owing to the prevailing labour conditions, but the following plant was received in the Colony :-

Fencing to Taikoktsui Quarry.

(c) Waterloo Road Extension (100 feet wide) Section between Waterloo Road and the Kowloon Boundary (estimate for 50 foot width).-This work was referred to in paragraphs 173 (c) of the Report for 1923 and 179 (c) of that for 1924.

Fair progress was maintained throughout the year.
