A number of old disused drains was destroyed and filled in. Repairs were effected to channels on Crown Land in the vicinity of the Railway Station at Taipo.

89. Electric Lighting, Shamshuipo.-The number of electric lamps in use at the end of the year, all of which are incandescent, was 124, an increase of 17 as compared with the previous year.
90. Maintenance of Chinese Cemeteries.-The work carried out under this heading has been alluded to in paragraph 37 of this report.

91. Typhoon and Rainstorm Damages.-Slips occurred on the Taipo Road widening near the 5th mile-stone; Taipo-Kam Shan Road; and Fanling-Shataukok Road. Damage also occurred at the stream diversion, North of the Kaulungtong Development Area.
The bridge at Taipo Causeway collapsed, and it was found necessary to construct a temporary wooden one for motor traffic.
92. Maintenance of Waterworks at Laichikok.-The total quantity of water supplied during the year amounted to 64.36 million gallons, which is a decrease of 88.52 million gallons over 1924, or an average consumption of 176,000 gallons per day.
Temporary waterboat supplies were in operation on the Praya East Reclamation during the whole year, and a total of 69.69 million gallons was supplied from this source.
Details of consumption are given in Annexe J.
There were 16 meters in use at the close of the year.
93. Maintenance of Waterworks, Fanling.-The total quantity of water supplied during the year amounted to 7.19 million gallons, or an average consumption of 20,000 gallons per day.
There were 17 meters in use at the close of the year, 8 for Fanling, 4 for Kam Tsin, and 5 for Sheung Shui.
