The fact that the South Side of the Island is more open to Summer breezes than is the Northern Side on which stands the City of Victoria, with the recent construction of motor roads which have made this side easily accessible from the City has induced many persons to build houses there for permanent residence.
There is however no reason to suppose that this side of the island is now less dangerous as regards Malarial infection than it has been in the past.

The Urban portion of this district has expanded considerably during recent years specially in an Eastward direction beyond Causeway Bay and at Wong Nei Chung and Tai Hang Villages. Untrained nullahs near these areas offer facilities for mosquito breeding.
