Work on the 3rd Dam had not commenced by the end of the year.

Excavation for the East Catchwater started in November and was practically completed by the end of the year.

No work was done on the West Catchwater.

A sum of $57,200 was spent in constructing a new village near the North end of the Beacon Hill Tunnel to accommodate the Shek Lai Pui villagers. This sum is included in the expenditure given below :-

215. Fanling Water Works Scheme.--This work was referred to in paragraph 214 of last year's Report.

219. New P. & O. Building, Fittings and Furniture for the Departments of the Port Engineer, Director of Education, and the Electrical Engineer.—This work involved the provision of partitions,
