P.W.E. New Territories.
204 Miscellaneous Works.-This work was referred to in paragraph 208 of last year's Report.
The following is a brief description of the principal works carried out under this heading :-
(a) Filling in at Shamshuipo to the N.E. of N.K.I.L. 433. (b) Bullock Stabling at Kowloon City.
(c) Connection to Wells at Cheung Chau.
(d) Levelling of the Parade Ground at Lok Ma Chau Police Station.
(e) Bullock Stabling at Fuk Tsun Heung.
(f) The sinking of a well and construction of a path at the Tsun Wan Police Station.
(g) Painting of the structure of the Beckwith Bell, repairs to wall and generally improving the surroundings at Lam Tong.
(h) Erection of a searching shed for searching purposes at Cheung Chau Pier.
(i) Provision of extra bed-boards and trestles etc., for prisoners and Indian Warders at Laichikok Branch Prison.
(j) Fitting up of a New Dispensary with front entrance doors, sign-boards and partitions at Taipo.
(k) An approach to the fire station at Taipo from the main road was made, surfaced with 4" macadam, and tar painted.
(l) The path from the Taipo Road to the P.W.D. Bungalow was macadamised.
To give effect to (a) an order was made in February for the necessary site formation for exchange of areas. The work was completed by end of May.
As regards (b), an order for levelling and concreting the site, together with the erection of a matshed stable, was given in February and the work completed by end of April.
(c). This work was put in hand at the end of the year. It consists of the renovation of 2 wells and improvement of one spring.
(d). This work which was put in hand at the end of the year, comprised the levelling of the site, forming of bank, and the turfing of same. By the end of the year, it was progressing favourably.
(e). This work was put in hand at the beginning of the year and completed by the end of April.
