Slow progress was made during the year and at the end thereof it was deemed reasonable to allow the Contractor an extra amount on his price for the excavation owing to the large quantity of bed rock met with.

(f). New Road through King's Park and Cemetery Areas, Homuntin,- Formation of 30 foot width and Bridge over Railway 60 feet wide. This work was commenced at the beginning of the year, and satisfactory progress maintained.

The cutting and filling was completed from Gascoigne Road to the Railway, about 27,000 cubic yards of material being excavated. The reinforced concrete bridge over the nullah was also erected.

No work, however, was started on the 60 foot bridge over the Railway.

(g). Laying Tramways.-The question of laying Tramways was under consideration and the proposal finally abandoned. No work was, therefore, done under this heading,
