138. Jardine's Lookout, Catchwater.—This work was referred to in paragraph 146 of last year's Report.

Progress has been very slow, but by the end of the year a length of about 6,700 feet of the catchwater has been completed and the remaining 600 lin. feet excavated ready for concreting.

139. New Workshop and Plant. This item was referred to in paragraph 148 of last year's Report.

This work, which was carried out by Mr. Ng Wah under the Maintenance Contract, was commenced in June and completed by the end of the year. The extension will add 2,300 square feet of floor space to the Workshop.

The following machines were added to the Workshop during the year:

One 10' 0" sliding surfacing and screw-cutting lathe manufactured by Messrs. John Lang and Sons, Ltd., Johnstone.

One Double Belt Type Planing Machine with self-contained countershaft to plane 8′ 0′′ × 3′ 0′′, manufactured by the Selson Engineering Company, London.

140. Repulse Bay Water Supply, Extended Scheme.—This work was referred to in paragraph 150 of last year's Report.

Little work was done under this scheme during the year, as the development in this district was not sufficient to justify further extension of the existing system.

An extension of 900 lineal feet of 3" W. I. pipe to R. B. L. 182 and district was laid in July.
