92. Maintenance of Water Works, Fanling.--The total quantity of water supplied during the year amounted to 7.92 million gallons, or an average consumption of 21,000 gallons per day.

There were 20 meters in use at the close of the year.

93. Maintenance of Water Works, Taipo.--The total quantity of water supplied during the year is unknown as all the services were un-metered.

A control meter was fixed in December, and a total consumption figure for 1925 will be obtained.

There were 25 meters in use by the end of the year.

94. Water Accounts.--Meters were examined and repaired in 45 instances.

The expenditure under the vote was as follows:-

New Meters (difference in value between issues and receipts) $ 659.94 New Installations 475.54 Repairs to Meters (Labour) 165.97 Repairs to Meters (Materials) 146.15 Meter Boxes, &c 65.14 Total $1,512.74

95. Officers' Quarters.

HONGKONG.

Quarters at rear of "Le Calvaire".--This work, which was referred to in paragraph 94 of last year's Report, proceeded satisfactorily during the year.

The North Block was completed and occupied in December, while the work on the South Block was well advanced, the paint work being in progress.

Additional Quarters at rear of "Le Calvaire".--This work consists of site preparation, and the erection of a block of six houses similar to, but slightly smaller than, those recently completed on the adjoining site.

The accommodation provided for in each house affords a sitting room, a dining room, 3 bedrooms and the usual servants' quarters, etc.

A contract for this work was let to Messrs. Kien On & Co. on 22nd October, 1924, and the work commenced immediately.
