A new approach path to the Engine House was formed, and a retaining wall built to allow of a store-yard being formed, whilst the Engine House Extension was lined with white glazed tiles obtained from England.

142. Stanley Mound East, Catchwater.-This work was referred to in paragraph 130 of last year's Report.
By the end of the year, about 2,000 lin. feet of catchwater was completed, and lined to overflow level. In another length of 3,000 feet excavation was nearly completed, whilst a further 1,000 lin. feet was excavated to footpath level.
The very wet weather experienced during the year greatly retarded progress on this work.
