To keep pace with the increasing demand on the Quarry for the various material manufactured there, an additional rotary dryer and spiral mixer was installed, and a pipe line laid from the compressor plant to enable mechanical drills being used at the quarry face.

127. New Ferry Piers.-This work was referred to in paragraph 112 of last year's Report.
The construction of the re-inforced concrete pier at Public Square Street, Yaumati, was completed by April, and in May the Yaumati Ferry Service was transferred from the temporary pier. This latter pier, the property of the Contractor, was purchased for the use of the police launches.

128. Ferry Piers for Vehicular Traffic.-Towards the end of the year a survey of the Vehicular Ferry Pier Site at Jordan Road, Kowloon, was made, and preliminary plans of the pier were prepared. The exact position of the Vehicular Ferry Pier Site on the Hongkong side has not yet been decided upon, as its location is involved in the scheme of Port Development which is now under consideration.
