# SPECIAL REPORTS
Special Reports have been made on the following subjects:
"The packing of Peanut Oil", "The colour of commercial Ammonium Sulphate", "The packing of Chinese Wood Oil", "The composition of Chinese Camphor", "The Salinity of the Canton River water", "Clay for Brick-making", "The packing of Antimony regulus", "The chlorination of Water Supplies" and the "Alkaloids of Datura Alba".
# LIBRARY
Several standard works of reference have been added.
# SAMPLING
The following table shows the amount of sampling carried out on behalf of exporting firms during the year:
Sodium nitrate 57 Bags. 184 Vats. 3,614 Bags. Ammonium sulphate 1,610 bags. Anise Oil 9,252 tins. Peanut Oil Antimony Ore 1,600 bags. Antimony metal 2,381 boxes Tea Seed Oil 107 Vats. Bismuth Ore 49 Bags. Tin 4,061 Tons. Cassia Oil 4,216 Tins, Wood Oil 1,140 Tons. Flour Lard 1,824 Slabs. 2,330 Bags. Zinc 1,700 cases. NickelThe whole question of the sampling of tin has been under consideration and it is hoped in the near future to use electric drills for taking the samples and also stamp the slabs with a much more satisfactory seal.
# REVENUE
The fees paid into the Treasury during the year amounted to $23,769.87 as against $21,548.00 in 1922.
The value of the year's work as determined from the Tariff of Fees (Government Notification No. 439 of 1918) is $33,309.87 as against $28,198.00 in 1922.
# RESEARCH
Owing to pressure of work and a depleted staff little research work was done. An investigation was however made into methods for determining traces of free chlorine in water and also into the methods for the analysis of camphor oil.
# STAFF
No change was made in the staff during the year.
