QUESTIONS
1. Mr. HOWARD H. W. YOUNG asked the following question (in English):— When is the Ko Shan Open Air Theatre Expected to be completed and ready for use? Have arrangements been made to invite applications from the public to make
use of the facility?
THE HONOURABLE F. K. HU, CHAIRMAN OF THE CULTURE & ENTERTAINMENT SELECT COMMITTEE, replied as follows (in English):-The scheduled completion date of the Ko Shan Theatre is the end of 1982. Allowing a month or so for commissioning the theatre, it should be possible to open in late January or early
February 1983.
A policy on hiring and booking arrangement for the Theatre has been established. The scale of hire charges for the theatre will be decided in the near future. It is planned to invite applications for booking from the public in July
1982, i.e. about 6 months before the scheduled opening.
A pamphlet introducing the Ko Shan Theatre and its facilities is being prepared and will be distributed to potential users of the Theatre as the first of a series of publicity publications to promote the Theatre.
MR. YOUNG (in English):--Mr. Chairman, I would like to ask: when considering the scale of charges for the Theatre, will marketing considerations be taken into account in addition to cost considerations? In other words, do we recognize the fact
that this is a new venue which we wish to encourage?
MR. HU (in English): Mr. Chairman, when we decide the hiring charges, we have to consider the operating cost and also the market level of comparable facilities. Of course, that market level will have to be adjusted in accordance with the provision of additional facilities or lack of facilities in Ko Shan Theatre. Other factors will also be considered before we finally decide the hiring charges.
2. DR. KIM Y. S. CHAM asked the following question (in English):-In view of the large number of people attending the Hung Hom Stadium, Tsim Sha Tsui Complex and the Ko Shan Open Air Theatre, what provisions of car-parking facilities are planned for these venues?
