Dear Mr. Roberge:
The Hong Kong Planning Unit Department of the Colonial Office has approached us to learn of the plans we have for the rehabilitation of our business in Hong Kong.
The writer has explained that the territory belongs to your Company and that we operate our business through Wallace Earper & Company, Ltd.
We were asked whether we knew if any of Wallace Harper's personnel got away, and, also, if we knew of any plans you had for the rehabilitation of your business.
Our reply has been that we know nothing but that we will write to you to find out the position. If you are a greeable, would you let us know...
(a) If any of Wallace Harper's staff escaped and available for any rehabilitation operations.
are
(b) If you have any plans for the rehabilitation of the
dealership there, and
(c) Whether you would care to join in any joint effort in
getting under way.
In connection with (c) you might perhaps speak to Mr. Milliken with whom we have been in contaft regarding Malaya. Mr. Milliken understands the form of the plans that have been made for that territory, which, briefly, are that a unit operating under the Civil Affairs Unit made up of the Ford dealer and his principal competitor are going in to service essential transport during the period immediately after Kilitary Oper tions cease, and before rehabilitation of commercial life proper commences.
