The Colonial Office are enquiring about what happened at TERMINAL on their proposal to discuss with the Americans the question of the administration of Hong Kong in the event of its liberation by Chinese Forces.

My recollection is that the brief on this subject which I submitted at TERMINAL was sent to the Prime Minister's Private Secretary with an intimation that Mr. Bevin proposed to speak to Mr. Attlee about it and, subject to his approval, to raise the issue with the

Americans.

Could you please tell me what happened subsequently?
