Arrest and repatriation of persons in event of
ALIENS.
(7) Any alien who is dissatisfied by the refusal of the Immigration Officer to issue or renew a certificate of admission may, within seven days of such refusal being intimated to him, appeal to the Local Authority whose decision shall be final.
24. (1) The certificate of admission granted to any alien may at any time be cancelled by the Local Authority if, after inquiry, he is satisfied that the
alien-
(a) cannot show that he is able to earn the means of decently supporting himself and his dependants, if any; or
(b) is a professional beggar or vagrant or a person likely to become a charge upon the public or upon any public or charitable institution; or (c) has been banished from any country or has been shipped from any country by the Gov- ernment of such country with a view to his being repatriated; or
(d) is a person living on the earnings of prostitu-
tion; or
(e) is suspected of being likely to promote sedition
or to cause a disturbance of
of public tranquillity; or
(f) is a person whose removal from the Colony is conducive to the public good. [Substituted by Ordinance 26 of 1935.]
(2) The Local Authority shall furnish, on request, to any alien whose certificate of admission has been cancelled a statement in writing setting forth the reasons for his decision.
(3) Any alien whose certificate of admission has been cancelled under subsection (1) may, within seven days of such cancellation being intimated to him, appeal to the Governor in Council whose decision shall be final.
25. Any alien to whom the issue or the renewal of a certificate of admission has been refused under section 23 or whose certificate of admission has been cancelled under section 24 or any alien who, having been lawfully cancellation required under section 23 (1) to apply for a certificate of admission, fails or refuses to do so, may be arrested without warrant by any police officer and may be
