Dear Wyatt-Smith,
Many thanks for your letters of the 12th July and 12th August, regarding the evacuation from Hong Kong viâ Manila, which we have received and read with interest. We have passed them on to the War Office and Colonial Office.
We appreciate that your patience and tact must have been sorely tried in dealing with this problem and
congratulate you on the manner in which you smoothed out the many difficulties with which you were faced.
As regards the suggestion in
paragraph 16 of your letter of the 12th August that the ofices and house of the Consulate-General should be
combined, I fear that this matter will
