a resolution which declared that "unless and
until Britain be driven out from the Orient
there will be no new order in East Asia".
The resolution will immediately be
wired to the government leaders in Tokyo.--
Domei".
It will be observed that a leading part in
the anti-British demonstration, according to the above
Domei account of the proceedings, was taken by a Japanese
army officer, who "vehemently attacked Britain's Far
Eastern policy".

According to various other sources the de-
monstration, for which considerable preparation appears
to have been made in advance in the form of a rostrum,
loud speakers, refreshments et cetera, subsequently
became extremely noisy and was continued until late at
night.

The danger to the public security of any
public demonstration of this sort even under normal
conditions, and therefore all the more so at a period
of general tension such as the present, will be readily appreciated, while the fact that the proceedings should
have assumed a definitely anti-British tone may be con-
sidered as likely to have an adverse effect on mutual
relations, especially at the present time when conver-
sations between the accredited representatives of our
two countries are in progress at Tokyo.
