Refusal of French authorities to allow import of Dunlop tyres into China via Indo-China.
Refers to Foreign Office telegram No. 135 Saving (F 3331/3331/10). Director of Economic Affairs at the Ministry for the Colonies was requested to ascertain whether local officials in French Indo-China had ever interpreted general instructions barring export of war material so as to apply them to British but not to French motor tyres. Encloses copy of reply, stating that Governor-General of Indo-China confirms that transit of British tyres has never been forbidden and that Customs authorities have never interpreted general instructions in the way suggested.
