Large parties of wounded passed through 15th May

to 18th May and proceeded down river. Air raid warnings

are frequent, but no Chinese aircraft observed. Chinese

forces hold position two miles from north Bank opposite

Oliphant Island. Fow Yang still in Chinese hands.

Hankow. Chinese regulars reported within three

miles of Fengtsz, first station south of uchang.

10,000 troops arrived during week, majority landing

Wuchang but some 1500 up Han river. Fighting reported

at Kwang Shui on Peihan Railway. Large numbers of

aircraft have left Hunkow, leaving mostly fighters

and reconnaissance.

After Chunking raid searchlights had to

be used to home aircraft owing to fog.
