Dear Sir,

WORCESTER COTTAGE,

FEBRUARY 6tn 1939.
In 1937 and 1938 I had some correspondence
with various officers in the Colonial Office about the
possibility of recruiting a senior or just retired
veterinary officer for very responsible veterinary duty
in China. The Chinese Government have asked me to
renew these inquiries, which i abandoned in consequence
of the war. They wish to be able to secure a first class
man without delay when their country is again at peace.
Will you tell me
(1) which department or officer in the Colonial
Office can tell me the names of experienced and really
good veterinary officers with long Asiatic and African
experience, who have recently retired or are close to the
retiring age;
(2) whether Mr. Poulton, recently D.V.. Uganda,
is retired and in 3ngland?
The appointment offered is for 5 years,
with 6 months leave, on £1200 per annum.
Yours truly,
(Sgd) C.F.Strickland. C.I.E.
Indian Civil Service (retired,
