The Colonial Defence Committee consider that

the points raised in their printed remarks have been

4

fully net in the existing scheme for the preparation

of which the Local Committee deserve much credit.

As regards storage of coal, the Admiralty

has recently entered into a contract with Solomon

Moss & Co. In future, therefore, no Government store

will be kept and the coal will be stored in the position

recommended by the Local Committee.

The Colonial Defence Committee concur in the

Governor's proposal that the officers of the garrison

should be appointed Officers of the Local Militia and

recommend that the sanction of Secretary of State for

War to this step should be obtained.
