There are two problems in connection

The review of the Gibraltar anti-aircraft

defences called for by the Chiefs of Staff at their 20th Meeting on

16th January, 1941, C.0.S.(41) 20th Meeting.

(b) At the Chiefs of Staff Meeting on

27th January, C.0.S.(41) 1 (0), the Vice Chiefs of Staff were invited to consider the possibility of sending up to two heavy anti-aircraft batteries and two light anti-aircraft batteries to Gibraltar out of February output.

In considering the problem of additional defences, it is recommended that 8 additional heavy anti-aircraft guns should be provided particularly with a view to strengthening the defences against attack from the North East. Further an additional 14 Bofors are required to strengthen the dockyard area. Governor and Commander-in-Chief, Gibraltar, has agreed with these proposals and has stressed the desirability of having mobile heavy anti-aircraft guns in view of the limitation in choice of sites.
