6. It has been decided to equip a second Wellington squadron at Feltwell for spray, and the quantities of 1000 lb. containers at the station and at the Air Ammunition Park will shortly be doubled.

There are approximately 150 charged 1000 lb. containers in central storgae, and more are being filled at approximately 30 per week.

Recharging 500 lb. and 250 lb. containers.

8.

During the present shortage arrangements have been made for the rapid decontamination and recharging of 500 lb. and 250 lb. containers. The 1000 lb. containers are too bulky for easy handling and transportation, and they will therefore not be recharged.

Distribution of gas bombs

9。

Sufficient 250 lb, and 30 lb. gas bombs have been laid down at each of the operational stations in Nos. 1 and 2 Bomber Groups to provide two squadron sorties for each unit. These are backed up by ample stocks at the Air Ammunition Parks, which are available for immediate supply to the other bomber groups, and there are large stocks in central storage.

Eire and Northern Ireland.

10. No gas bombs or spray containers have been laid down in Northern Ireland, Should it be necessary to employ gas against an enemy force invading Eire, this work will be undertaken by Bomber squadrons based in England.

Phosgene filled bombs.

11. Arrangements have been made to fill a proportion of gas bombs (3,750) with Phosgene. A further 1,250 are held in readiness for filling as required. In view of the danger and difficulties of storage, these bombs will be held centrally until they are likely to be required for operations.
