DISTRIBUTION OF GAS WEAPONS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

FOR USE IN THE EVENT OF INVASION.

Spray for use by Army Co-operation Squadrons (Lysanders).

Sufficient 250 lb, spray containers for two squadrons sorties at 12 I,E. aircraft per squadron have been laid down at each of the following Army Co-operation Stations (50 containers per station):~

Grangemouth, Linton-on-Ouse. Hatfield.

West Malling. Old Sarum,

Since this distribution was made another 66 containers have become available, and these will be distributed this week to the above stations as an immediate reserve. There are no more 250 lb. containers until new production commences during this month.

Spray for use by Medium Bombers (Blenheims and Battles).

Sufficient 500 lb. spray containers for four squadron sorties at 12 I, E, aircraft per squadron have been laid down at each of the following stations (100 containers per station):

Binbrook,

Newton.

Horsham St. Faith. Wyton.

Sufficient 500 lb. spray containers for two squadron sorties (50 containers) have been laid down at Oakington.

500 lb. spray containers have been laid down at the Air Ammunition Parks which serve the above stations as follows:

No. 93 Maintenance Unit, Swinderby. No.94 Maintenance Unit, Barnham. No.95 Maintenance Unit, Lords Bridge.

A further 30 which have recently become available are being distributed this week to these Air Ammunition Parks. There are no more 500 lb. containers availaule until new production commences during this month.

Spray for use by Heavy Bombers (Wellingtons).

One Wellington squadron has already been trained in the use of 1000 lb. Gas Spray Apparatus, and sufficient 1000 lb. containers for one squadron sortie (26 containers) have been laid down at Feltwell, backed up by sufficient containers for two squadron sorties (50 containers) at the Air Ammunition Park serving this station.
