County Councils.

Election.

A.D. 1886.

50. There shall be a separate election of county councillors for Election of each petty sessional division of a county,

The election of councillors shall be conducted in like manner as 5 an election of councillors in a borough divided into warda, and sections fifty to one hundred and four, both inclusive, of the Muni- cipal Corporations Act, 1882, and the enactments amending or affecting those sections shall, so far as they are consistent with this Act, extend to counties in like manner as if they were herein re- 10 enacted with the substitution of "county" for "borough," of

“division” for “ward,” of “ chairman of the county ” for “ mayor and of “warden ” for “alderman,” and of “ county roll " and " divi- sion roll " for " burgess roll ” and “ward roll” respectively, and of "county" for "town," and of "county electors" for " burgessES."

A person shall not be entitled to subscribe a nomination paper in or for more than one division in the county.

51. The polling districts in each division for the purpose of the Polling election of a county council shall be such as in the first instance may be appointed in that behalf by the justices in general or quarter 20 sessions assembled and in subsequent elections shall be such as

the county council may from time to time appoint.

A general sessions shall if necessary be held for the purpose of this section.

[qu. Until any order is made by the sessions or council in pur- 25 suance of this section the polling districts as existing for the purpose of parliamentary elections in the county shall be the polling districts for the election of county councillors.]

52. Casual vacancies in a county council shall be filled up in like Casual va- manner as casual vacancies in a town council, in a borough, and cancies. 30 sections of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1882, and all enactments referring to those sections shall apply to counties in like manner as if they were herein re-enacted with the substitution of “county for "borough" and of "county chairman" for "mayor."

53. If any person is returned to the county council of any Double 35 county as representative of more than one division in that county, he shall, at or before the first meeting of the county council after such election, signify in writing to the council his decision as to the division which he desires to represent, and if he fails so to do, the county council shall decide the division which he shall represent,
