A.D. 1886, and upon any such decision being made, the office of member for the division or divisions which he does not elect to represent shall be deemed vacant, and the vacancy shall be deemed to be a casual vacancy, and shall be filled accordingly.
Election not
A person shall not be a member of more than one county council. 5 If a person is returned as member of more than one county council, he shall elect as soon as practicable in which county council he prefers to sit, and upon such election being made, the seat in any county council other than that in which he elects to sit shall be deemed to be vacant, and the vacancy shall be deemed to be a 10 casual vacancy, and shall be filled accordingly.
54. No election had in pursuance of this Act shall be deemed to be vitiated to be vitiated in consequence of any neglect of any officer to give by technical defect. proper notice of the election, or in consequence of any technical
defect in the proceedings which has not been projudicial to the 15 interests of any party concerned in the election.
Provision in case of no election or insufficient elect.

55. If after the first election under this Act in any case not provided for by this Act an election of members of a county council does not take place at the time at which it ought to take place in pursuance of this Act, the retiring members shall continue in office 20 during the time for which their successors would have continued in office.
If after the first election under this Act on the occurrence of an election the number of candidates nominated are less than the number to be elected, the persons so nominated shall be deemed to 25 be clected, and the remaining places shall be filled up by an equal number of the retiring members, and the retiring members to fill up such vacancies shall be settled by agreement, or in case of disagree- ment by ballot.
If in any case not provided for by this Act a rural or county 80 council of any county is not elected at the time at which it ought to be elected, or an insufficient member of members is elected for such council, the Local Government Board may by order provide for the holding a fresh election or fresh elections for supplying any such default or insufficiency in election at such times and in such manner 85 as they may think expedient.
56. The ordinary day of election of the councillors in a county council shall be the first day of December in every year.
The ordinary day of election of wardens in a county council shall be the ninth day of December in every year.
The ordinary day of election of the chairman of the county shall be the ninth day of December in every year,
