(5.)—Orders for No. 2 Indian Infantry Battalion.

(i.) Precautionary Stage.

1. Troops Distribution.-On_mobilization, precautionary stage, the distribution will be as shown in Table B (i), Chapter II.

2. Equipment.-Equipment will be drawn from the A.O.D. at such hours as may be notified.

3. Transport.-Transport will be issued in Whitfield Barracks by A.S.C. Scale: Officers, 60 lb.; other ranks, 20 lb.; followers, 10 lb.

4. Ammunition.--150 rounds per man will be carried on person and 150 rounds (1st reserve) by transport.

5. Rations and Fuel.--Two days' reserve rations and fuel on charge will be taken, but not to be consumed without orders.

The Quartermaster will indent on the A.S.C. daily, through the Section Commander, twenty-four hours previous, the requirement for the different detachments.

6. Medical.-Field dressings will be issued on mobilization.

7. Sanitary.-O.C. detachments are responsible for all sanitary arrangements in

which their vicinity. No one will use water for drinking and cooking purposes passes through cultivation. Water for troops on the hills will be found close to their positions.

8. Sick. The sick from Haiwan and Crown Point inclusive will be treated at Customs Pass Hospital, those in western portion at Station Hospital, Kowloon.

9. O.C.-Section Commander will be at Kowloon.

(ii.) War Stage.

10. On the war stage being declared, the Mainland Section of defence will be divided into six sub-sections, and distributed as shown in Table B (ii), Chapter II.

11. Duties and Limits.-The duties and limits of each sub-section are as detailed in Mainland Mobilization Orders.

12. Shortage. All subsidiary divisions of sub-sections are to be maintained at full strength, any deficiency being completed from reserve.

13. Ammunition.-Ammunition will be taken as detailed in Mainland Mobilization Orders, War Stage, No. 12.

The drill havildar, with 10 men, will proceed to the arsenal to draw the balance to complete complement.

British officers will carry 50 rounds pistol ammunition.

14. Kits.-Kits to be taken as per Mainland Mobilization Order, War Stage, No. 14, those of rank and file to include :-
