Colony Swimming Championships
TWO GOOD RACES ON TODAY'S PROGRAMME
By "RECORDER"
If something doesn't happen again to spoil the show, there will be two races worth going a long way to watch on this evening's pro-. gramme in the Colony Swimming Championships at the Victoria Re- creation Club.
These will be the Men's 440 Yards Free Style and the Men's 200 Yards Free Style Relay. In either, the standing Colony records are almost certain to go. These are 5 minutes 19 seconds for the Quarter Mile and one minute 41-3/5 seconds for the Relny.
F.
The 440 Yards will be a three-way tace between "Sonny" Monteiro of the VRC, Cheong Kin-man of Eastern and Chan Chun-nam of Lai Tsun. Wong Kam- wah of the Chinese YMCA and Victor Matiuk of the VRC are the other finalista.

Names of British girl athletes to compete at the Empire Games at Auckland next February will not be known officially until next week, but I already have a list of those regarded as "certainties."
For financial reasons only five girls will make the trip, and it seems that to be a "certainty" a girl must be an "all-rounder". In fact, never has there been a better example of expediency than the selection of this side. All five will have to contest at least three events.
