Mayan Football Was Weird & Brutal
Zaculeu, Guatemala.-One of the world's oldest ball games, a weird and brutal Mayan sport so tough that the winning player won the clothing and jewellery of the spectators, may be revived in the ruins of Zaculea.
Archeologists reconstructing this unclent Mayan capital as a "living monument" to the once-mighty raco have restored the stone-faced ball court for a possibla comeback of the soccer-like sport that flourished as a semi-religious "Olympic Games" of the Americas flye centuries ago.
The game was so difficult that the lucky player who managed to knock the ball through ཟ stone heap won not only the game but the clothing and pos- cessions of the spectators
With the audience scattering in fright to avold paying the forfelt, the ball game broke up with the fortunate pinyer and his friends in close pursuit collect his prizes.

BEN HOGAN'S "POWER GOLF"
20.-The Importance Of Good Putting
From every observation I have ever mado on putting there is no reason why the average player cannot putt reasonably well since putting is merely rolling the ball over the surface of the green by striking it a gentle but frm blow. Yet, in spite of its apparent simplicity, many golfers who are capable of playing excellent golf. from teo to green havo difficulty when faced with the problem of getting the ball into the hole with the putter.'
Putting, it seems to me, is a matter of concentra- tion, relaxation and confidence. Thus the mental.phase of this department of the game looms at least as impor tant as the physical phase, the actual stroking of the ball into the hole, because mental atrain while putting is probably responsible for more missed strokes than any mistake in the physical mechanics of putting.
Pur, on most courses, allows 30 putting strokes per two each hole. Therefore, it is
