DAVIS CUP:

To Lead In County Table Italy, Chile

SURPRISE WIN

OVER KENT

London, June 10.- Worcestershire con- solidated their position at the top of the County Cricket table today with an un- expected 94-run victory over Kent, their fifth win of the season.

On a pitch which remained good, Kent had nearly four and a half hours to make 226 runs. Todd and Fagg gave them a good start with an opening stand of 71, but the remaining batsmen could muster only 60 runs between them.

The spin bowlers, Howorth and Jackson, did the damage. In 45 minutes after lunch they claim- ed the last six wickets for 32 runs when the ball began to turn a little.

Ilsworth teek In this spell three wickets for ten, finishing with five for 37. Jackson's four wickets with fils off-breaks cast 64 runs.

It was Worcestershire's first post-war victory over Kent, and only their seventh in meetings.
