LORD LONSDALE'S LOVE STORY ENDS
A great love story—a romance which lasted almost 63 years, through five reigns-ended recently when the Countess of Lonsdale, wife of the world-famed sporting peer, died at her home, The Stud House, Barley Thorpe, Oakham, Rutland.
She was eighty-seven, n great Indy of the austere old Scottish school, with a slim, erect figure, fine dark hair and eyes, mistress of five stately homes.
She entertained kings and queens in stale at Lowther Castle, drove through the countryside in mustard- yellow carriages with four horses, postillons and outriders Iler. ACY- vants, too, wore canary divery, with white beaver hats.

Australia's Export Trade Hit By War
Australia's export trade is re- ported dropping, thus creating new. economie problems. Although that country's economy so far has with- stood the impact of war with littlo obvious dislocation, Influences now at work are observed as expected to create formidable problems of ad- justment as losses of overseas mar- kets and inability to export normal surpluses through lack of shipping are more severely felt,
It is reported that there has nl- ready been an appreciable drift from i the country to the ellies by farmers and rural workers. Secondary in- dustry, stimulated by war needs, ex- panda apace and its growth into many acids,
especially since the 1031-1032 depression, strongiliena the country to withstand the challenge of war and the financial burdens of as- sisting hard-hit primary producers. It is pointed out that should British purchases be reduced generally, Aus- tralia may find that external revenue from all products except wool and
