Fortunate Conditions For League Opening
K.B.G.C. "A" Defeat Not So Surprising: I.R.C. Strong on Home Green
Prison Officers' Great Win
LAWN BOWLERS have been fortunate in that the present spell of fine weather has given them fast greens which, although providing a sterner test of skill than heavy greens, are far more enjoyable for play.
Last summer, we had a great deal of rain at the be- ginning of the season, and it was not until the League programme was well-advanced that conditions improved. This time we have got off to a flying start.
Much surprise seems to have been caused by the victory of the Indians over Kowloon B.G.C. "A" in the First Division last week. Perhaps the sur prise would not have been so great had one remembered that the Indians have always done. welf on their own green at Soo- kanpoo.
An average team away, the In- dlans are formidable at Sookunpoo. This is a fact recognised by every team in the First Division. A few years ago, the Indians won every match at home except that against Recrelo "A," the champions, but lost every away gantel
In Saturday's match, victory for the Indians was almost assured by ten time, when they led by 18 shots. M. H. Abbas was 13 shots ahead of A. J. Ball, A. K. Minu was seven ahead of G. 11. Sherriff and A. R. Dallah was two down to Adam Hof- land.
The fenture of after-tca play was
Civil Service C.C. at Happy Valley by four points to one,
It was a splendid achieversent and Puts Recreio "B" only one point be hind Recreio "A" and one ahead of Craigengower C.C.

he wrot down to roll with three or
four against him, and in the circum- stances, he did very well to score 12 shots!!
THE Police team made the headlines last summer when the brilliant recovery of fall, who they defeated Recreio "A" at fought back to such good Pure King's Park. But that was to- that he was only two shots in ar- rears at the end of the gune, His Words the end of the senson rink showed considerable improve-when the champions had built ment, and he himself played a few up a substantial lead. lovely shots, on one occasion draw- ing deal to the kitty were ve against him.
But for the lapse of Dallah's rink in the last three ends, the Indians might have made a clean Kweep. Leading 18-13 at the end of the 18th, Dallah conceded a four, two and one to be nused out by two shots by Holland, who thus relaloed his unbeaten record.

On the other hand, Bob Duncan beat J. Kempton 23-0, and with, L. Guy winning by 14 shots against T. Coleman, the Bowling Green victory was a comfortable one.
IN the Second Division, the Prison Officers' Club, who have made themselves-at-home right away in better company, scored their best win to date when they visited Club de Re- creio and won by four points to
onc.
To beat Recreio at King's Park Is no mean achievement, and if prout) were required of the P.O.C.'s capn- bilities, this win supplied it. One rink, A. Jillott's, were badly beaten -11-31 but the other two more than made
