WASHINGTON, May 20 (UP).—German sea warfare in the Atlantic has at- tracted ever-increasing attention to the Azores Islands, which lie on and near some main transoceanic routes of ship, air, and cable communications, but government of ficials here have never revealed the extent nor the direction of official interest with respect to the Islands.
Writers on strategical problems have frequently discussed the importance of the Azores in the event that the United States should become involved in the European war and officials occasionally have made references to the Azores in connection with defence,
