Japanese Withdrawals From Central China May Be Ruse
Special to the "Telegraph"
CHUNGKING, Mar. 5 (UP)-Chinese authorities are of the opinion that despite the withdrawal of a few Japanese troops from Central China, Japan is still anxious to settle the China campaign before the large-scale southward push.
They said that the rumour of the evacuation of four provinces in Central China for the southward push was probably a smokescreen for an offensive somewhere else in Free China in view of the present concentration of mountain climbing units in French Tonkin.
