EARLY CLIMAX IN THE Next Nazi Amazing Story
BALKANS SITUATION
EXPECTED BY LONDON
Special to the "Telegraph"
LONDON, FEB. 10 (UP).-BRITAIN'S RUPTURE IN DIPLO- MATIC RELATIONS WITH RUMANIA CAME IMMEDIATELY AFTER MR CHURCHILL'S STRONG WARNING TO BULGARIA, AND POINTS TO AN EARLY CLIMAX OF THE SITUATION IN THE BALKANS.
BALKAN DIPLOMATS SAY THEY WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF RUMANIA SOON FINDS HERSELF AT WAR WITH BRITAIN AND THAT BULGARIA, IF SHE CONNIVES WITH GERMANY, MAY ALSO DISCOVER HERSELF IN THAT POSITION.
These observers doubted whether the British bombing of Rumanian oilfields was likely to be made without a declaration of war.
There are no signs that that is imminent, although the possibility cannot be ruled out in view of the British statement that Rumania is being used by Germany as a base for the furtherance of her military plans.
BRITISH PLANES BOMB TRIPOLI
Active In Eritrea, Albania
Special to the "Telegraph”
CAINO, Feb. 10 (UP)-Planes from the Fleet Air Armi made successful raids on Tripoli during the night of February 8-9. On the same night, the RA.F., bombed and machine- gunned the aerodrome at Calato. The R.A.F., supporting the army's offensive in Italian East Africa, repeatedly raided Keren and caused much damage to depots and motor transports.
Meanwhile, reports of the establishment of a big German military base at Dobrudja in Bulgaria including substantial ommunition stores, is belleved to have been an important factor ia prompting Mr Churchill's broadcast warning to Bulgaria.
The activity of many German officers and airmen in civilian dress at the Bulgarian airfields i also known to have been in the mind of the Premier.
German Denial
BERLIN, Feb. 10 (UP).-In regard to Mr Churchill's broadcast, informed German elreles denied "100 per cent" his statement that German troops were already in Bulgaria. They des- cribed his claims of German losses in air raids over Malta as "about 40 per cent. cxaggeration of the actual facts."
