Former Hongkong Resident Tells Of England After Bombing Raids
Many in Hongkong will remember Mr. Bernard Petheram. former News Editor of the South China Morning Post and Kowloon cricketer. Mr. Petheram returned to England ten years ago and is now at Etlee, Blakeney, Gloucestershire. In the following descriptive sketch he gives his impressions of a bombing in the country.

Below, the silvery Severn sea ebbs and flows, and beyond, the Cotswolds, famous ages before the Cotswold shepherd made these famous hills more famous still by introducing the King on his Christmas broadcasts.
To-day, the sunlight plays upon the irregular plots of pasture and plough, on the woodlands and the villages nesiling in the hills, making the Cotswolds appear for all the world like a giant patchwork quilt. It re- minds us of another scene, from the Peak across the harbour to the hills: beyond Kowloon. True, the Eastern Krandeur and glambur are missing, but in its sober setting the panorama is just as pleasing.
