THE NEW FEATURES

OF THE KOTEX PAD:

THE KOTEX LABORATORY has developed an improved type of moisture-resistant material made specially for Kotex sanitary napkins. And a protective panel of this material is now placed between the soft folds of every Kotex pad!

So remember this new Kotex feature all you who believe in "Safety First! Remember, too, all the other advantages Kotex has

to offer....

Easy to see why it's so comfort. able, too! Kotex is made in soft folds (with more absorbent mate. riul where needed... less in the non-effective portions of the pad)': Naturally, Kotex is less bulky than pads with- loose, wadded filters! And the soft cotton under the gauze makes it less apt to chafe!

Kotex comes in 3 sizes, too! Super-Regular-Junior. Korex is the only popular-priced napkin that offers you a choice of 3 different sizes! (So you may vary the size pad according to each day's needs!) All 3 sizes have soft, folded centers... flat, tapered ends...

Many a time-you'll be thankful Koter doesn't make "tell-tale out- liner"! Just compare the flat, pressed ends (patented by Koter) with the thick, stubby cads of other-and-moisture-resistant "safety napkins! It's easy to see why Kotex panels". All 3 sizes sell for the never makes embarrassingbulges... same low price!

Crops Let Down Sir Reginald

SIR REGINALD DORMAN- SMITH, Minister of Agriculture, made a partial admission of the Government's fallure to produce more food from our own land in a speech in London recently.

He said the ploughing up of 2,000,000 extra acres should provide a saving of 2,000,000 tons in shipping space for feeding-stuffs.

But he

refrained from making any claim to increased food production as a result of the campaign: in some crops, he admitted, there would be much less thurs had been hoped for.

"For Instance, we are bound to want more sugar-beat grown," he

sakl then mentioned that he had

appealed to farmers to seed a bigger

acreage.

Last year about 337,000 acres of i sugar-beet were grown in England and Wales. For this year the Gov- erniment nsked for at least 400,000 Acres.

Wheat Ruined

"But," said Sir Reginald, "the cam- paign has been very disappointing. doubt very much if we shall get all the sugar-beet we asked for."

I understand there are likely to be similar results in regard to the wheat. acreage. Much sown on some of the newly ploughed land has been ruined by wireworm, and it is expected that f the total production will not greatly exceed last year's figure.

Sir Reginald announced negatiu- tions with the War Ofee for the re- lease of troops to take part in the harvest, and sald special cash incen- lives would be offered the men to volunteer for this week.

He hinted that unless there was some conscription of Inbour it might be impossible to find the extra 100,- 000 men estimated to be necessary for work on the forms, but he declined to discuss methods which might be adopted,

Exchanges Helping

"One concession," he said, "is that! the Minister of Labour has had, in- serted in all Government contracts a clause which prevents contractors employment exchanges. from engaging inen except through

And em-

ployment exchanges have been in- structed to supply, as far as possible, all demands from the unemployed in Industries other than agriculture."

On the question of feeding-stuffs supplies the Minister would only say: "If the demands on our shipping become greater us a result of war developments it is quite possible they will be even shorter than they have been. But we are trying to necumu late a reserve during the summer.”
