HONGKONG CONTINUES MAGNIFICENT RESPONSE

WAR FUND NOW TOTALS OVER $250,000

The War Fund inaugurated three days ago by the "Hongkong Telegraph" and "South China Morning Post" pussed the $250,000 mark this afternoon.

The South China Morning Post Ltd., this morning

Cheque For

forwarded a cheque for $100,000 to the Hongkong Lakh Sent

Government as the first instalment, and has requested

that this amount be remitted immediately to the Imperial To

Government.

Contributions continued to pour in this morning at an unprecedented rate.

The Hongkong Jockey Club donated $25,000 and a cheque for $10,000 was received from Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Hughes.

Early this morning donations of £1,000 sterling ($16,134) each were received from Mr. G. Miskin and Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Blaker.

The Hongkong Amateur Dramatle Club has sent a donation of $5,000.

LONDON, June 18 (Reuter).—An Air Ministry bulletin states that yester-

Lo walked past complainant and jostled against Tan who was then stopped and searched by Kam who sald he was looking for illicit opium. Complainant was then searched, and 20 centa taken from her right hand pocket. Kam then struck complain- ant on the chest and attempted to search her left hand pocket which contained $8, a gold finger ring and 4 pawn ticket.

Pushed Over Bank

During the struggle, complainant was pushed over the bank, and was also struck by the other three men present.

After taking away the purse, Kam ran off in the direction of the King's Park refugee camp and the other three men, of whom the two de- fendants were a pair, made off in the direction of Hunghom.. The alarm was ralaed, and Kam was caught by four refugees from the camp.

In answer to the charge on May 6, Chan sald: "have nothing to say. Complainant noticed I did not move my hands. I did not strike her, but I did go there."

Lo said: "It has nothing to do with me. The man in the black jacket (Kam Chun) did it."

On these facts, submitted Mr. | Reynolds, both defendants with the other two men assisted in the com- mon purpose of robbing Laut, and are therefore guilty of the charge for which they stand indicted.
