A THREEPENNY exercise book, containing the formulae of

a brilliant young boy scientist, was sent to the War Office recently.

The boy will never know the result of his researches because he was killed while experiment- ing with a new explosive which he thought was specially power- ful.

The boy, Geoffrey Joba Pay, was 15 and the only son of Mr. F. W. Pay, managing-director of Worth (London), It, dressmakers, of Grosvenor-street, W. He was ex- perimenting in the laboratory which tis father had built for him in the garden of their home in Sandy-lane, Cheam, Surrey.
