The pique is used for the breton with conical crown. The other forms a flattering cuff brim on a bat of black Etraw. White-trimmed or all-while hats are among the season's best.
In the two hats below, the designer' has used a new stitched, net in plaid effect. The low-crowned breton with the double quill is in lawny yellow and black, and is worn with a belgo wool coat. -Line patty tins with this rich pastry: Cream half a pound butter and 2 ozs. sugar. Mix in 1 cgg yolk and beat in gradually 12 oz. sifted flour, pinch of salt, and half a tea cpoonful baking powder. Prick with a fork and bake 15 minutes or until done. Leave to cool. Fillings Mensure 1 1 cup stoned, chopped, cook- ed prunes. 2 cups mashed bananas, and 1 teaspoonful lemon juice. Mix well. Cream 2 ozs. soft butter and 1 cups melted honey. Add to fruit and mix thoroughly. Fill the tartlet cases with the mixture and top with whipped cream. Prune Jelly
Soak half a pound prunes' over- night in 1 pint water. Stew in same water until tender. Stone the prtines and press them through a sleve. Mix a little of the juice with 2 tablespoon. ---- fuls cürnflour and, add to this the rest of the Juice and prune-pulp. Bring to the boll and boil for ten minutes, unul the mixture thickens. and no flavour of raw cornflour re- mains.
Add the juice and grated rind of I lemon. Cook for a further vo minutes and turn into a rinsed mould to set. This may be served with whipped cream if desired....
