CAUSE OF AIR CRASH
An error of airmanship" caused the Jersey Airways liner Catherine's Bay to crash and burst St. into flames, with the loss of 14 lives, at the outset of a flight from Jersey to Southampton,
This is the finding, announced re- cently, of the Air Ministry Inspector of Accidents who investigated the tragedy of last November,
In his opinion and the Chief Inspector of Accidents agrees the crash was caused because the pilot, when making a climbing turn in cloud, inadvertently allowed the Iner to fall into a sideslip. She was at a height which did not allow him to recover control in time to avert disaster.
