Army XI Held To A Draw By H.K. Club

But Point Enough To Enable Them To Win Triangular Tourney

(By "The Pilgrim”)

The Hongkong Hockey Club drew 1-1 at King's Park last evening with the Army in the last game in the Triangular Tourna- ment. Army could not grumble at being held to a draw; in fact, had the Club gone home with the spoils, no one could have grumbled unduly, for the civilians were awarded two penalty bullies, neither of which was converted.

In the first five minutes, S. A. Fowler should have found the net when well-placed, but he shot wide. It was Army's turn to put on pressure and after they had penned Club in their own half for most of the period, they eventually forced a short corner and Datta Rom made no mistake from the resultant hit.

11

Club ame straight back with flerce attack, and after forcing short corner, were awarded a penalty bully, Datta Turn having used his feet in trying to prevent a goal. However, W. A. Recd falled convert. The interval soon follow- cd.

SECOND HALF Exchanges were fairly

after the interval, thougth Osmani In goal for the Army was called upon to save on two occasions. However, the Club forwards played strongly and S. A. Fowler equalised will pretty shot.

With ten minutes to go, the pace increased and Club were playing a much better game, their defence, especially W. A. Reed, N. Whitley and V. Bond, doing some snuppy work. Carrying play into the Army elrete, Divett almost scored but Carter nipped into the goal-mouth to stop the ball

with his hand. A penalty bully was again signalled against the Army, and this time Fowler failed to convert.

Although Army did not attack su often in this half. their forwards were more dangerous. Nerain Slugh, Pritam Nath and Umed Singh com- bined with fine understanding, Hook, at centre-half, was good Individually and also distributed the ball well, Dotta Ram, ut left buck, worked hord.

It was a keen and fust game with little to choose between the respce- live defences. By sharing the points. the Army have
