It has been learned from the most reliable sources here that the Japanese invasion of South China, which was actually planned to take place either in late December or early January, has been "postponed" due to new

S. C. & F. Dow Jones summary of yesterday's markets:
Trading to-day was moderate and the market was from 1 to 3 points higher at the highest levels since December 24th. Metals and motors
were the best performers. There was some short-covering and some new buying and early advances were not dislodged by later selling. Chrysler shares gained above 2 points. Other shares were from fractions to 2 points higher.
Curb stocks were higher and fairly active.
Bonds were higher, with United States Government issues irregularly higher.
Wall Street Journal morning com- ment.
The "Journal" says that most of yesterday's selling was by professional traders and that the buying orders came from the public.
Brokers say that investors bought Telephone, Douglas Aircraft, General Motor, Bethlehem Steel and United bought International Harvester and States Steel shares. Chicago interests Montgomery Ward issues. It is re- ported that London traders are buying copper shares, whilst Amsterdam In- terests ore purchasing railroad securities.
Jobbers in chemical shares report a better business.
There is a slightly inflationary senti- ment in financial circles, but it is only lukewarm.
